Ingredients

Scale
  • 3 cups all purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon baking soda
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 ¾ cups granulated sugar
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • ¼ cup orange juice
  • 1 tablespoon orange zest
  • 8 ounces cream cheese, softened
  • ⅓ cup granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9×5 inch loaf pan.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  3. In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  4. Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla extract.
  5. In a small bowl, combine the sour cream, orange juice, and orange zest.
  6. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, alternating with the sour cream mixture, beginning and ending with the dry ingredients. Mix until just combined.
  7. In a separate bowl, beat together the softened cream cheese, sugar, egg, and vanilla extract until smooth and creamy.
  8. Pour half of the cake batter into the prepared loaf pan.
  9. Spoon the cream cheese filling evenly over the batter.
  10. Gently pour the remaining cake batter over the cream cheese filling.
  11. Bake for 55 to 65 minutes, or until a wooden skewer inserted into the center comes out clean.
  12. Let the loaf cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring it to a wire rack to cool completely.
  13. Slice and serve!
