- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, softened
- 1 3/4 cups granulated sugar
- 3 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 cup sour cream
- 1/4 cup milk
- Zest of 1 lemon
- **For the Glaze:**
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 2 3 tablespoons lemon juice
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a loaf pan.
- In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
- In a large bowl, cream together butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
- Beat in eggs one at a time, then stir in vanilla extract and lemon zest.
- In a small bowl, combine sour cream and milk.
- Gradually add dry ingredients to wet ingredients, alternating with sour cream mixture, beginning and ending with dry ingredients. Beat until just combined.
- Pour batter into prepared loaf pan and spread evenly.
- Bake for 55 65 minutes, or until a wooden skewer inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Let cool in pan for 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
- Prepare glaze by whisking together powdered sugar and lemon juice until smooth.
- Pour glaze over loaf, letting it drip down the sides. Let glaze set before slicing.
