- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 teaspoon salt

- 6 medium Yukon Gold potatoes, peeled and thinly sliced
- 1 medium yellow onion, diced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 0.25 cup all purpose flour
- 3 cups beef broth
- 1 cup milk
- 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
- 0.5 teaspoon salt
- 0.25 teaspoon black pepper
- 1.5 cups shredded cheddar cheese, divided
Instructions
- Preheat grill to medium high heat. Rub steak with 2 tablespoons olive oil, 1 teaspoon salt, 0.5 teaspoon black pepper, and 1 teaspoon garlic powder.
- Grill steak for 4-6 minutes per side for medium rare. Let rest 10 minutes, then slice into bite sized pieces.
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). In a large skillet, heat a tablespoon of olive oil over medium heat. Add the diced onion and cook until softened, about 5 minutes. Add the minced garlic and cook for another minute until fragrant.
- Sprinkle the flour over the onion and garlic mixture. Cook for 1 minute, stirring constantly. Gradually whisk in the beef broth and milk until smooth. Add Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper. Bring to a simmer, stirring constantly, until the sauce has thickened slightly, about 5 minutes.
- In a large bowl, combine the sliced potatoes, sauce, and 1 cup of shredded cheddar cheese. Mix well to ensure the potatoes are evenly coated.
- Pour half of the potato mixture into a greased 9×13 inch baking dish. Spread the sliced grilled beef evenly over the potato layer. Top with the remaining potato mixture.
- Cover the baking dish with foil and bake for 45 minutes. Remove the foil, sprinkle with the remaining 0.5 cup of cheddar cheese, and bake for another 15-20 minutes, or until the potatoes are tender and the cheese is melted and bubbly.
- Let the casserole cool for a few minutes before serving.
