Ingredients

- 1 pound pasta (spaghetti, linguine, or fettuccine)
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
- 1/2 cup freshly squeezed lemon juice
- 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese, plus more for serving
- 1/4 cup chopped fresh parsley
- Salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste
- Lemon zest for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the pasta and cook until al dente, reserving 1 cup of pasta water.
- Melt butter in a skillet, add garlic and red pepper flakes. Cook until fragrant.
- Pour in lemon juice and simmer for 1-2 minutes.
- Remove from heat, stir in Parmesan cheese and parsley. Season with salt and pepper.
- Add drained pasta to skillet and toss. Add pasta water if needed to reach desired consistency.
- Serve immediately, garnished with more Parmesan and lemon zest.
