Ingredients
Scale
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 pound ground turkey
- 1 medium onion, chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 (28 ounce) can crushed tomatoes
- 4 cups chicken broth
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1/2 teaspoon dried basil
- 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
- 1 pound pasta (penne, rotini, or your favorite short shape)
- 1 cup frozen peas
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Heat olive oil in a large pot or Dutch oven over medium heat. Add ground turkey and cook, breaking it up with a spoon, until browned. Drain off any excess grease.
- Add chopped onion and minced garlic to the pot and cook until softened, about 3-5 minutes.
- Stir in crushed tomatoes, chicken broth, oregano, basil, and red pepper flakes (if using). Season with salt and pepper to taste.
- Bring the mixture to a boil, then add pasta. Reduce heat to low, cover, and simmer for 12-15 minutes, or until pasta is cooked through and liquid is absorbed. Be sure to stir occasionally to prevent sticking.
- Stir in frozen peas and Parmesan cheese. Cook for another minute or two until peas are heated through and cheese is melted.
- Serve immediately.
