Ingredients

  • 2 (5 ounce) cans tuna in water, drained
  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise
  • 1/4 cup finely chopped celery
  • 1/4 cup finely chopped red onion
  • 2 tablespoons sweet pickle relish
  • 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 8 slices sourdough bread
  • 4 tablespoons butter, softened
  • 4 slices cheddar cheese
  • Optional: sprinkle of paprika

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a sheet pan.
  2. In a medium bowl, combine the tuna, mayonnaise, celery, red onion, pickle relish, mustard, and pepper.
  3. Spread butter on one side of each bread slice. Place 4 slices, butter-side down, on the sheet pan.
  4. Top each with tuna salad and a cheese slice.
  5. Place the remaining bread slices on top, butter-side up.
  6. Bake for 12-15 minutes, until golden and cheese is melted.
  7. Let cool slightly, then slice and serve.
