- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 small onion, finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 packet taco seasoning
- ½ cup water
- 1 tablespoon tomato paste
- 1 teaspoon lime juice
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 12 taco shells
- Shredded cheddar cheese
- Shredded lettuce
- Diced tomatoes
- Sour cream
- Salsa
- Guacamole (optional)
Instructions
- Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium high heat.
- Add ground beef and cook, breaking it up with a spoon, until browned. Drain off any excess grease.
- Add chopped onion and minced garlic to the skillet. Cook until softened, about 3 5 minutes.
- Stir in taco seasoning, water, and tomato paste. Bring to a simmer and cook for 5 7 minutes, or until the sauce has thickened slightly.
- Remove from heat and stir in lime juice. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
- Warm taco shells according to package directions.
- Fill each taco shell with the seasoned ground beef mixture.
- Top with shredded cheddar cheese, shredded lettuce, diced tomatoes, sour cream, and salsa.
- Serve immediately.
