- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 2 large eggs
- 1/2 cup all purpose flour
- 4 ounces cream cheese, softened
- 1/4 cup powdered sugar
- 1 tablespoon lemon zest
- 1/4 teaspoon dried lavender buds (optional)
- Yellow food coloring (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease an 8×8 inch baking pan.
- Combine melted butter, sugar, cocoa powder, and salt in a bowl. Mix well.
- Stir in vanilla, then beat in eggs one at a time.
- Gradually add flour, mixing until just combined.
- In a separate bowl, beat cream cheese, powdered sugar, lemon zest, and lavender(optional) until smooth.
- Pour brownie batter into the pan.
- Drop spoonfuls of cream cheese mixture over the brownie batter and swirl.
- Bake for 25 to 30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with moist crumbs.
- Let the brownies cool completely before cutting into squares and serving!
